Summer Sunrise - biotayarns carded wool for hand spinning and felting

.... created from gently sheared and dyed in the wool Wensleydale and Border Leicester fleeces. After dyeing, the wool is hand blended with Alpaca and Silk Noil. The mix of fibers is then carded on our 3 ton industrial carding mill into this beautiful cloud of logwood blue with pops of burgundy and the magical colors of dawn.

The wool we raise here at Dakota Carding & Wool is long, healthy and hand sheared from our pasture raised animals. We then wash, dye and card the fibers to produce a quality spinning wool. The staple length of this fleece averages about 4 inches long with luster, fine strength and drape.

Pure and simple washing, dyeing and carding of the fibers gives you an easy to draft, open preparation great for spinning a woolen or semi-worsted style yarn. Spinners familiar with commercial combed top, which requires significant predrafting, will likely find this carded preparation easy to spin right from the bag with little or no prep.  This fully carded wool color blend can also be recarded with other exotics and/or pulled through a diz to create a fascimile of roving.

Please remember that colors may appear different on your monitor than in real life. Every effort has been made to convey the colors in my photos as the fiber blend appears to me in person. Photos are taken in natural daylight without any color effects. I card many pounds of this fiber blend colorway some variation between batches will exist, similar to dye lots in yarn.

This four ounce bag will spin into +200 yds. of a 2 ply worsted weight yarn, although a 2 ply lace weight +300 yard skein is possible.
